Code Active in the PSTN
Per Section 4.2.1 (c) of the Thousands Block Pooling
Administration Guidelines (TPBAG)
it states that the LERG Assignee shall “Verify and test that the
NXX Code is activated in the
Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) prior to the NXX Code’s
LERG Effective Date ;”.
The Pooling Administrator sends out the PSTN reminder notices
starting on the effective date of the NXX Code, and continuing
every 10 days until notification is received from the Service
Provider that the NXX Code has been activated in the PSTN.
Unfortunately submitting a Part 4 does not fulfill this
requirement of PSTN verification. When receiving a PSTN
notification from the Pooling Administrator with the subject
line of “Confirmation of Code Activation in PSTN Reminder for
NPA-NXX”, you must reply and verify that the NXX Code is now
active in the PSTN in order for the PA to make the change in
PAS. As a result the available blocks in PAS will change from a
“Pending” (Red)
status to an “Available” (Black) status and the
PSTN reminders will cease for that NXX Code.
