Disconnecting records in the BIRRDS
database
The Pooling Administrator has been running into situations where
blocks have been returned
to the pool, but the records for the blocks have not been
disconnected in the BIRRDS database.
As a reminder, when a submission has been made to disconnect an
assigned block, the SP is responsible for having their AOCN
disconnect the NXD-X record in BIRRDS when they receive the Part
3 confirmation of disconnect from the Pooling Administrator. The
Pooling Administrator will disconnect the BCD records prior to
returning the Part 3 confirmation.
The Pooling Administrator is unable to re-assign a block if the
NXD-X records in BIRRDS have not been disconnected, leaving the
blocks stranded in the pool. This can become a bigger problem if
the pool has no other blocks available for assignment.
